Jewelry Care

Jewelry is durable but still needs to be handled with care, here are some tips to ensure your jewelry will last for years and years.

When to remove your jewelry.

I will always advise removing your jewelry when doing activities that could damage the metal or stone. The stones I use in my jewelry are hard enough for every day wear, but with anything that is not a diamond there is always a chance of breaking or cracking. Use your best judgement and remove jewelry when exercising or doing physical labor that could result in a damaged stone.

If you have a piece of jewelry with a natural rock or stone, remove jewelry when swimming or using cleaning chemicals. The moisture can get trapped under stones - and with porous stones, such as turquoise or opal, these stones can absorb the liquids and over time may change the color.

Remove jewelry when applying lotions or sunscreen, these can cause silver to tarnish quicker and usually leave behind a residue on the metal and stones which can cause harm over time.

Remove jewelry before bed to avoid breakage.

What if my silver tarnishes?

Silver will naturally oxidize, or tarnish, over time but can be avoided by keeping your silver jewelry in a pouch and in a dry area. If you notice your jewelry starting to tarnish, you can use a jewelry polishing cloth to give it a nice shine. Y’ou can find these in my shop here.
